These terms apply when you use dmvwise.com (“DMVWise,” “we,” “us”), including the free practice test, our guides and the paid full version. By using the site or making a purchase, you agree to them.
What DMVWise is
DMVWise is an independent study tool for the California driver’s license knowledge (written) test. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the California Department of Motor Vehicles or any government agency. Our questions are practice questions written from the California Driver’s Handbook; they are not the DMV’s own test questions.
The full version
- Price: $9.99, a one-time payment. There is no subscription and you will not be charged again.
- What you get: access to the full question bank in English and Spanish, practice by topic, the full-length practice exam and missed-question review.
- Where access works: the full version unlocks in the web browser you used to buy it. If you switch devices or clear your browser data, email us with your receipt and we’ll help you restore access.
- Payments: processed by Stripe. We don’t see or store your full card number.
Pass Guarantee
If you buy the full version and don’t pass the California DMV knowledge (written) test, we’ll refund your $9.99 under these conditions:
- Test taken after your purchase: you must take the DMV knowledge test after the date you bought the DMVWise full version. Results from a test taken before your purchase don’t qualify.
- Proof of your result: email support@dmvwise.com a clear photo or screenshot of your DMV knowledge test result that shows you did not pass and shows the date of the test. Please cover your date of birth, address, driver’s license or application number and any other ID numbers before you send it.
- Time limit: your request must reach us within 60 days of your purchase date.
- Purchase details: include the email address you used at checkout or your Stripe receipt so we can find your purchase.
- One refund per purchase: the guarantee covers one purchase per person. Refunds go to your original payment method; your bank may take several business days to post it.
- Our review: we may decline a request if the proof is missing, unreadable, dated before your purchase, or appears altered, or if we see signs of abuse such as repeated purchases and refund requests. If we approve a refund, your access to the full version ends.
The Pass Guarantee covers the California DMV knowledge test only. It doesn’t cover the behind-the-wheel (drive) test, vision test, fees paid to the DMV, or tests in other states.
Other refunds
Apart from the Pass Guarantee and billing errors, all sales are final, because the full version is digital content you can use as soon as you pay. You can take the free practice test as many times as you like before you buy.
If you were charged more than once or charged by mistake, email us within 30 days and we’ll fix it. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the law that can’t be waived.
No promise of results
We work hard to keep every question accurate and up to date with the current handbook, but we can’t promise that you’ll pass the DMV test or that our content is free of errors; the Pass Guarantee above is your remedy if you don’t pass. DMV rules and handbooks change. Always check dmv.ca.gov and the official California Driver’s Handbook for current rules. Our content is for study only and isn’t legal advice.
Using our content
The questions, explanations, guides and design on DMVWise belong to us. You may use them for your own studying. You may not copy, resell, republish or share the paid questions, or use automated tools to collect them, without our written permission.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, DMVWise is provided “as is,” and we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim related to the site is limited to the amount you paid us.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. If we do, we’ll post the new version here and update the effective date. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
